I had a mission....a personal one.....to write a love song without using the word love. Mission accomplished! You can hear me perform this brand new tune at The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center in Middletown, CT this coming Friday night (2/3/2012) along with my good friends and very accomplished songwriter's, Kristen Graves, Al Raebuck and Marc Douglas Berardo - we're doing a songwriter's round - it's gonna be great - so much fun!!! Hope you can join us there!!
GIG CANCELLED!! GIG ADDED!!!
HEY EVERYONE!!!
My band IS NOT playing at the Maple Tree Cafe in Simsbury, CT on Friday, February 24th!! WE ARE playing at The Good Life Grill in Granby, CT the next night Saturday, February 25th 9:00-12:00!!! Happy Holidays!!!
I am finally having some downtime. I mean, right now - not lately. No, no - lately I've been so busy I am tired to the bone - but it's a good kind of tired. When I think about life and my place in it I feel truly grateful. I've been making a decent living as a musician for about 15 years now and for that I am very blessed. It's Saturday, December 10th and I probably should be wrapping something or cleaning or getting the house ready for Christmas but what I really wanted to do was to connect with you and just keep you updated on what's going on with my music and my life.
We had a very bad storm here in CT at the end of October which sadly fell a huge amount of extremely large, old trees. Many of which were across our driveway! The day after the storm, Peter and I had been chainsawing and lugging for about 7 hours - I was tired and accidently dropped a big log on my hand and broke my middle finger on my left hand (my chord hand). I am a very fast healer though and happily 4 weeks later, I am playing guitar again! I didn't realize how bad a mood this put me in for the past several weeks. Not being able to play my guitar affected me profoundly and I think the next time I decide to wander around with a chainsaw in hand I'm gonna be a lot more careful. In many ways my guitar is and always has been my best friend - so breaking my finger was like walking past your best friend and not saying hello. I'm very lucky - and very happy to be playing again. I discovered too that while I can write a song in my head - and I usually do begin that way - I can't complete it without my guitar! I tried. Anyway, I'm in the middle of five new demos. Len Bobinski (my dear friend and bass player in my band) has his studio up and running so we are busy and so happy working together! I know I just released Strength To Move in July, but it never stops - the writing. I'll be back in Nashville at the end of February and I plan on having at least 5-6 new songs finished by then. But right now it's time for Christmas music! And family and church and benefit concerts for children (which I LOVE) and Handel's Messiah and I think I'll write a Christmas song too! I should probably bake something - although that is one area in which I am truly NOT talented. (Cooking yes, baking - no.) Maybe I should just put the tree up and that's a good place to start...... When I complete the new songs I will post them right here! I hope you and your family have a beautiful holiday season and I wish you happiness, perfect health and serenity for the coming year....... Hope to see you at a show soon too!!! Hey that can be on your New Years's resolution list......."go on a diet", "go see Carrie and her band", "start exercising", "stop eatiing so much junk food", "take a yoga class".......... xoxoxoI PRISON
I can't shake the feeling of how my life could have been so changed if I hadn't gotten clean and sober. Almost 6 years and I have a completely different outlook. I work at my spiritual healing everyday and feel blessed that my daughter is here right now sitting by my side. I think that for me, writing songs about my situation is cathartic and story telling is in my blood. "Stop The Rain" is my latest recording - and it paints a completely different picture - It's the one where I didn't find the amazing gift of sobriety. If you want to take a listen scroll down to the audio player on the home page....
To all those still sick and suffering - I pray for you and wish you peace. If you need me, send me an e-mail.... I LOVE MY TOWN....
We performed at the Simsbury September Festival last night - thank you to everyone who came out to support us, all the great comments, all the hugs, all the fans, friends and family - I live in an amazing town - so supportive and loving.
Thank you to all who continue to listen and love my music - it's my heart and soul and I'm glad to share it with you. I am truly blessed.... STRENGTH TO MOVE
The release of a new album is always exciting for me - it's one more body of work I can share with you. I was having coffee this morning and the beautiful cardinal came by to say hello. This bird visits me almost every morning - for about a year now. I started writing a song about him - turned it into a sparkling pop song and that just got me thinking. The one question I get asked a lot is - "what kind of music do you play?" I try and search for an answer to that one and I'm always stumped by that.
For me, the beauty of being an artist is that I write what I feel. I think the more appropriate question would be - what kind of music do I love? I love a great melody, and I love thought provoking lyrics - I love to listen to a good story in three minutes - I love being moved by a song. "Strength To Move" is a blend - there are some jangly pop songs, there's country pop, there's a little bit of folk. I don't ever stick to one genre and I like it that way. I can write a song with more blatant lyrics like the cheater song - "There's The Door", or bring it down a notch to more reflection on "Double Dare". Why don't you take a listen and send me an e-mail - YOU tell ME what kind of music I play - I want to know! Thanks for taking the time to listen to my new album... Available from the Store Page or on Itunes! "STRENGTH TO MOVE"!! A VIBRANT COLLECTION OF COUNTRY/POP CROSSOVER SONGS FROM YET ANOTHER CHAPTER IN MY LIFE - THIS TIME IT'S MY REDEMPTION RECORD..... HEY!! DON'T FORGET TO VISIT THE LITTLE BIRD PAGE AND GET YOUR FREE DOWNLOAD!! RAISING MONEY FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER RESEARCH - ONE SONG AT A TIME...
